Cutting down on high calorie sugary drinks and juices and swapping to drinking council pop( Water) is not only good for you it will also help you lose weight. We here it all the time through marketing campaign adds telling us that drinking pop and sugary juices are not good for us. On the back of that we also see successful large marketing campaigns aimed at obese people and food addicts as well as our children to get them to drink more pop and sugary drinks. Here at Maximum Sports Nutrition we say things how it is, not all this scientific rubbish just simple facts! Here it goes, if you cut down on sugary drinks and sugary fruit juices and replace it with water do some light exercise at the same time you’ll lose weight!
Did you know?
Drinking water will maintain your normal body temperature, and it will also lubricate your joints and help protect your spinal cord.
Most say drink around 6 – 8 glasses per day at 200ml, but you will definitely need more before and after exercise.
If you take part in regular weight training or any form of exercise you’ll probably want a sports drink that will restore your bodies vitamins and minerals, these are called electrolytes but be careful as quite a lot of sports drinks also contain far too much sugar and sodium. I suggest stick to High 5 or Gatorade but as recently seen on television there is so much debate on sports nutrition and sports drinks I don’t really want to get into it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18863293.
Fruit Juices and Vegetable Juices are good for you. If you have time always try make them yourself at least you know what is going into them and they are full of vitamins and anti-oxidants but again in moderation as if your trying to lose weight some fruits can still contain lots of sugar this can equate up to 150 calories in one drink.
Some mass made supermarket fruit juices claim to be 1 of your 5 a day just be aware of these as big marketing campaigns can have you thinking you’re giving your children a healthy drink in their school pack up and its no more than sugar artificial flavourings and water and definitely not 1 of their 5 a day. Give them an apple and a bottle of water they will get used to it.
Let’s get onto fizzy drinks as most of us know these can be majorly bad for you. Most of these contain twice as much sugar as the fruit juices we have just spoken about meaning you’re probably going to gain weight fast. Seems like everywhere we go you can buy a supersize for an extra fifty pence! Just say no! Yes, we all like a glass of pop from time to time but these company’s don’t give a hoot about your health, its all about money and how on earth can anyone drink one of those things I’d be in the toilet constantly and miss half the film!
So try replacing just some of your sugary drinks with water, it will help you lose weight and make you feel a whole lot better, and it’s cheaper. If you want a fizzy drink try coke zero it’s far better than the full fat version and will help you keep the weight off whilst still enjoying the fizz.
